written by sugarZ, Feb 21st
Hey guys,
i have got a Problem with my FPS in Call of Duty 4. Often there are hard FPS fluctuations (from 100 to 250 fps) and a lot of laggs, when Programs like ESL WIRE are scanning. Because i don't want to buy a new Computer im asking you guys: Which part of my PC System should I replace with new stuff to get more /constant FPS?(of course all grafic settings in COD are low ect..)
My Computer:
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor6000+ 3,08 GHZ
RAM: 4 GB (3,25 usable)
SYSTEM: 32 BIT Windows 7 System
Grafic-card: NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GT

Thanks 4 your help

greetings sugarZ

Your graphic card and your processor, definitely. Although I would suggest buying a new PC completely at this point.

Hey sugarZ,

I'm not wiz-kid on the computer, but I'd definitely suggest replacing your graphics card and perhaps investing in a faster processor. With an i5 and a Sapphire Radeon HD6870 1GB you'll definitely have more stable 250fps. I currently use one with an Intel core2duo E8400 @4.00GHz and CoD4 runs very, very smoothly.

Your PC in general seems quite outdated so I think if you're looking to seriously upgrade your computer for the long term you might want to follow this guide:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-overclock-performance-gaming,3097.html

Prices have gone down since that guide was created, so it should be affordable.

Best of luck sugarZ and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them here!

Hey =)
thanks for your fast and helpful answers.
I'm still not sure, if i should replace stuff or follow the guide you posted (n1 guide btw :D). So here one more question: Do i need to buy a new motherboard ( http://de.msi.com/product/mb/K9N-Neo-V2.html#/?div=Overview ) , when I want to put this in my computer:( http://www.alternate.de/html/product/information/pageBuilder.html?articleId=736372&kind=pcBuilder , http://www.alternate.de/html/product/SAPPHIRE/Radeon_HD_6850/960631/? ) ? Thanks for your help =)

i think that motherboard you currently have will not support that CPU, i suggest upgrading and buying a gigabyte motherboard.

you will not need to spend that much as they are relatively cheap, i dont know much about computers and components so it would be better if you posted on a techforum and im sure they guys can help :)

(i only know techforums from UK)
