Starcraft 2 Academy Cup!

Posted Feb 17th

One of Europe's leading gaming organisations without world's prime competitive title? You might smell something strange in that. However, wait no more.

Whoever dares to call himself a gamer without acknowledging the existence of Starcraft might as well question his capability of relating and linking concepts together. This Real Time Strategy is not only one of the eldest titles of its genre, but also the dominating one in terms of competition and exposure. Since the early stages of its latest sequel, Wings of Liberty, the game has appeared in every major tournament, featuring an enormous amount of money to its name. Not setting sights on mentioned discipline would evoke signs of irrationality within any organisation's management. However, this isn't a quality we posses.

"After a very succesful launch in early January, we swiftly started to work on two new projects which were DotA2 and Starcraft 2. Once we acquired the former Team Shakira in Western Wolves, we felt that we had to do things a bit differently with Starcraft 2. We want to give up-and-coming talents a chance to join an organisation in which they will be able to learn and improve. The Western Wolves Academy Cup will be a succes without the shadow of a doubt and I'm already wishing everyone the very best of luck!"
Florent Dauvister, Head Manager

Our process towards the WW.Starcraft journey begins here. We're thrilled to bring you the Western Wolves Academy Cup.

What is it? The concept of the tournament should seem familiar to everyone. It is pretty simple - but then again, it is a cup, so how hard can it be?

Depending on the number of applicants we will organize the tournament differently, but with over 64 applications the system will be as follows: 1 group stage (Group stage 1 with top 2 advancing), followed by Double Elimination playoff bracket. For your chance to earn a spot in Western Wolves Academy team together with some hefty prizes, email us at sc2ac@westernwolves.com with the following information:

● Your nickname and a link to your Battle.net profile
● Your name and nationality
● A small introduction that includes who you are, your history with competitive gaming/Starcraft and your ambitions in regards to this game
● Some of your recent replays (5 or more, at least 1 of each match-up)
● Previous achievements
● Other information you deem relevant

Saying that doesn't necessarily mean that one has to go through the Academy Cup in order to be accepted into Western Wolves, for one can apply for it directly at sc2@westernwolves.com. If you believe that you posses an extraordinary amount of experience, and you judge yourself as being a dominant face of the game's scene, feel free to do so. Do note that when applying directly for WW.Starcraft, provide the aforementioned information too.

This method won't necessarily prevent you from competing in the cup, however, as we base our criteria on quite elevated standards. Therefore, if you believe your in-game abilities are pushed enough to compete in a high calibre environment, but your name isn't quite popularized amongst the scene, we strongly recommend to sign-up straight away instead of taking a risk. The main purpose of the tournament is to allow every single upcoming talent to compete for a spot in a professional gaming organisation which provides you with the finest support available, comparable to the one we offer the rest of the individuals representing our name. Not only the winner will be given a spot within our family - automatically granting him luxurious approaches indispensable for any progamers subsistence -, he will also be awarded with the most powerful gaming peripherals in the market, as well as a fully paid trip to a prestigious gaming event hosted by MLG.

Does that mean that the winner of this cup will be the only one to join Western Wolves? No, of course not, we will work closely with the Starcraft 2 players from our brother organisation LowLandLions. They will help us determine who are the players who have what it takes to join Western Wolves. So what are you waiting for? It's your chance to possibly realize a strong desire; come and show creative playstyles, ingenious strategies and amazing unit control.
